As a licensed clinical psychologist, Dr. Kaplan has worked for over 17 years with individuals, couples, families and groups to treat a variety of psychological difficulties and adjustment issues. Dr. Kaplan graduated from Drexel University and participated in post-doctoral training at the University of Chicago. Utilizing an eclectic mix of treatment orientations, primarily Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT and EFIT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), but including mindfulness/mind-body connection, Interpersonal, and Insight-oriented approaches, Dr. Kaplan works with each individual client to determine which approach or approaches will be most effective. Dr. Kaplan has also completed training in couples therapy including Level I Gottman training, a research-based treatment program for couples. Additionally, she works from an Emotionally-Focused Therapy basis when working with individuals and couples, a form of therapy based on Attachment Theory.
Dr. Kaplan has worked in a variety of clinical settings, including private practice, university counseling centers, and inpatient hospital settings, as well as having worked on research teams. Additionally, she has taught psychology classes at both the college and graduate school level, and she has supervised graduate students in Clinical Psychology. She has published articles and chapters and developed assessment measures on the topic of impulsivity.
